An De Ridder in the Aalto Musiktheater
In 2015-2016 soprano An De Ridder is engaged in the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen (Germany), where she will perform 5 roles:
- Musetta in La Bohème by G. Puccini
- Berta in Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini
- Vierte Magd in Elektra by Richard Strauss
- Princesse Clarisse in L'amour des trois oranges by S. Prokofiev
- Priestress in Aïda by G. Verdi
Debut in Opera Vlaanderen
After singing her debut at the Flemish Opera as Pamina in 2006, she was asked to sing roles as Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff throughout the Netherlands with Opera Zuid. Also Adèle in Die Fledermaus became a big success at the stage of Zomeropera Alden Biesen and later in the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. With the European Opera Center she made a tour through the south of Europe performing the title role in L’enfant et les sortilèges by Ravel.
Puccini, Strauss and Wagner
Recent opera roles include Mimi in La Bohème by Puccini in Gent, the title role in Dostal’s operette Clivia in Brussels and Leuven, Ortlinde in Die Walküre by Wagner at the Aalto Musiktheater and Flower Maiden in Wagner’s Parsifal at the Flemish Opera, a production staged by Tatjana Gurbaca and conducted by Eliahu Inbal and winner of the International Opera Awards 2014.
Last year she was a rehearsal cover for the title role in Richard Strauss’ Daphne in De Munt in Brussels.
An De Ridder has performed a number of roles at the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam and Operadagen Rotterdam. Most notable are Janthe in Der Vampyr by Marschner and Marfa in Skupoy by Pashkevitch. During her years at the Operastudio in Amsterdam she sang several times in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam: Enone in Charpentier’s La descente de l’Orphée aux Enfers and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte for the Robeco Summer Series.
Orchestras and conductors
She has appeared at the
“Vrijdag van Vredenburg” series in Utrecht as Marguérite in Honegger’s Jeanne
d’Arc au bûcher under the baton of Markus Stenz and in the soprano solo in
Borodin’s Fürst Igor Suite with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under
the baton of Marin Alsop.
In addition she was a soloist with orchestras as the Flemish Radio Orchestra under the baton of Pietro Rizzo,
the Brandenburgisches Orchester under the baton of Heribert Beissel and the
Brabants Orchestra lead by Roberto Benzi and later by Ivan Anguélov. She sang
the soprano solo in the Mattheus
Passion with the Netherlands Symphonic Orchestra under the baton of Jan Willem
Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg
An De Ridder started her career very young after becoming a laureat of Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg where she had her first stage experiences as Anna Reich in Lustige Weiber by Nicolai and Sandmännchen in Hümperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel.
An equally loves singing recitals, which she did in Bozar (Sunday Morning Concerts), Royal Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, for the Britten-Pears foundation in Aldeburgh and last September she sang a lunch concert build up around R. Strauss’ Elektra for the Flemish Opera.
